Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 1, 2026
Bright Spots is a journaling app. We try to keep the product simple, and this policy is meant to be simple too.
Your journal is private by default. You can choose to share specific entries with people in your circles.
What we store
- Your journal entries, including text, dates, tags, and optional photos.
- Your profile information, such as your display name and optional profile photo.
- Circle and sharing data when you create or join circles.
- Subscription status needed to unlock Bright Spots Plus features.
How Bright Spots works
- Your personal app data is stored on your device and may sync with your iCloud account through Apple services.
- Circle sharing uses Apple's CloudKit sharing system.
- We do not run ads in the app.
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs inside the app.
When you share
If you share an entry to a circle, the people in that circle can see the information you chose to share, such as:
- the entry text
- the entry photo, if there is one
- the entry date
- your display name and profile image for that shared context
You control what gets shared. Your journal is not public.
Your choices
- You can edit or delete your entries.
- You can remove photos from entries.
- You can stop sharing an entry.
- You can leave or delete circles, depending on your role.
- You can restore or manage your subscription through Apple.
Data retention
We keep data only as needed to operate the app and the sharing features you use. If you delete content from the app, we aim to remove the related app data as part of normal operation, though Apple-managed iCloud systems may have their own retention timing.
Children
Bright Spots is not intended for children under 13.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app changes. If we make a material change, we will update this page.
